GLA:D Program
GLA:D Program for Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis

What is GLA:D Australia?
GLA:D— short for Good Life with osteoArthritis: Denmark — is an evidence-based education and exercise program developed for people living with hip or knee osteoarthritis.
Originally designed by researchers in Denmark, the GLA:D® program has been successfully adapted in Australia and is now helping thousands manage their osteoarthritis symptoms without surgery.
What are the benefits?
Australian research shows that people who complete the GLA:D® program experience:
-
36% average reduction in pain
-
Less reliance on pain medication
-
Greater confidence in their joints
-
A reduced perceived need for surgery
How does it work?
GLA:D includes a combination of:
-
Education sessions to help you understand osteoarthritis
-
Supervised exercise classes to build strength and confidence
-
Practical strategies to manage symptoms in everyday life
The goal is to support long-term self-management, reduce pain, and help you stay active and mobile.

Why choose GLA:D at Point Lonsdale Health + Wellness?
We’ve been running the GLA:D Program for some time and have refined the way we deliver our classes to help give you the best possible experience and results.
Our GLAD programs are designed with the following in mind:
- Small, supportive groups – we keep our groups small so you receive plenty of individual attention and guidance.
- Everyone starts together – rather than a rolling program where people come and go, our six-week programs run as a group, allowing you to progress alongside the same people throughout the program.
- Physiotherapist-led – every session is overseen by a physiotherapist who can monitor your technique, provide individual guidance and appropriately progress your exercises.
- Individual support included – no hidden costs – your 1:1 initial physiotherapy assessment and brief three-month follow-up appointment are included in the course fee. This allows us to assess your individual needs, monitor your progress and tailor your program without additional appointment costs.
- Equipment included – your Theraband is included in the program, giving you the equipment you need to continue your exercises at home.
- Flexibility to make up missed sessions – if you’re unwell or away and provide at least 24 hours’ notice, we offer the flexibility to make up missed sessions in our other GLAD classes. With multiple classes running, and the option to extend your program if needed, we’ll help you complete the full program.
